OBITUARY

Elbert L. “Boot” Gibson, Jr., 65 , of Ann Arbor, formerly of Albion, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2008, at VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. He was born January 19, 1943 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Elbert Lee and Rosa Lee (Johnson) Gibson, Sr. “Boot” served our country in the Unites States Navy during the Vietnam Era. In 1968 he married Dorothy Wilson. The marriage ended in divorce. He resided in Ann Arbor for over 20 years and was a commercial bus driver. While living in Albion he worked at McGraw-Edison, Semco Energy Gas Company and Albion Memorial Gardens . “Boot” was very creative and could fix anything.

Survivors include: one daughter , Ericka Gibson of Atlanta, GA; a son, Illya Gibson of Kalamazoo; one brother, Elder Benjamin “Ben” Gibson of Albion; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; former wife, Dorothy Wilson of Battle Creek; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lee Henry Johnson.

Visitation will be Friday, August 22, from 2-8 p.m., with a Family Hour from 7–8 p.m., at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive , Albion.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, at Grace Temple COGIC, 711 Grace St., Albion, with Elder Stephen C. Williams officiating and Eulogy by Dr. James Byrd. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Albion, on Monday, August 25, at 10 a.m.
